The Southern Peripheral Road (SPR), a 150-metre-wide road is a part of New Gurgaon that is fast becoming a realty hotspot for end-users and investors alike. A committee of officials (HSVP), formerly Huda, the district revenue department and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) have demarcated land for construction of a cloverleaf to connect the SPR with the Dwarka Expressway. SPR is set to get two underpasses, one at Vatika Chowk and the other at the Sector 55/56 intersection. There are also plans for three flyovers to ease traffic congestion at Rajesh Pilot Chowk, Tigra Mod, and the four-lane intersection between Sectors 49/50 and 65/66. A total of Rs 281.86 crore has been allotted to these projects. These developments are part of the GMDA’s larger plans to turn the SPR into an arterial road and ease the flow of traffic on National Highway 48.

Bright Future Plans

The New Gurgaon-Sohna Master Plan 2031 focuses on developing major infrastructure on SPR like metro connectivity, link to Gurgaon-Faridabad Road and extending the SPR into a six-lane expressway. It is believed that it will emerge as a posh locality having a mix of residential and commercial properties, in the next few years. Once completed, this road will provide excellent connectivity of NH-8 to Golf Course Extension road.
