The construction of the Dwarka Expressway will be completed by 15th August 2022 as said by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. This project is for ₹ 8,662-crore and will definitely give great connectivity to everyone. The whole work of 29 Km expressway was been reviewed by the Road Transport and Highways Minister. This project is been constructed under the Bharatmala Project at a cost of ₹ 8,662 crores. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways also added the same that Dwarka Expressway will be completed by Independence Day next year.

The Union Chief Minister also tweeted that

“Inspected Dwarka Expressway with public representatives and media personnel. The 29 km long 8 lanes access-controlled expressway is being constructed at a cost of 8662 Cr & will be inaugurated before 15th August 2022”.

 

Nitin Gadkari said Dwarka Expressway will be the first-ever elevated Urban Expressway in India. The road transport and highways minister was reviewing the progress work on the 29-km expressway, which connects Dwarka in Delhi to Gurugram.

Dwarka Expressway, being constructed under the Bharatmala Project at a cost of ₹ 8,662 crores, would be completed before Independence Day next year, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said in a statement.

“The Minister made an inspectional visit to Dwarka Expressway. He reviewed the progress of India’s First Grade Separated Urban Expressway, Dwarka Expressway.”He expressed hope that the expressway, being constructed under the Bharatmala Project and with a cost of ₹ 8,662 crores, would be completed before Independence Day next year,” the statement said.

The Union Minister also added that it is the first-ever elevated Urban Expressway in India which will definitely reduce traffic on road and ultimately help in the reduction of pollution.

The minister added that the construction of the present project will reduce 50 to 60 percent of the traffic on National Highway-8 because the Delhi-Gurugram section of National Highway-8 is presently carrying traffic of over three lakh passenger car units (PCUs), which is much beyond the design capacity of this 8-lane highway, leading to severe congestion, jam, wastage of fuel and time.

The minister also provided that this project is also providing 50 thousand direct or indirect employment opportunities.

The total length of the expressway is 29 kilometers out of which 18.9-kilometer length falls in Haryana while the remaining 10.1-kilometer length is in Delhi. The starting point is from Shiv-Murti on National Highway-8 and ends near Kherki Daula Toll Plaza.

The minister also added that this project will be an engineering marvel” of the country with the longest (3.6 kilometers) and widest (8 lanes) urban road tunnel in India. There are total four levels in this project comprising tunnel/ underpass, at-grade road, elevated flyover, and flyover above flyover.

For the very first time, a 9-km long 8-lane flyover (34-meter wide) on a single pier with 6-lane service roads is been constructed. This project will be having a fully automated tolling system with 22 lanes toll plaza fully equipped with an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS).

The Union Chief Minister also added that “The project has a total estimated consumption of two lakh MT of steel, which is 30 times that of the Eiffel Tower. The total estimated consumption of 20 lakh Cum of Concrete is six times of the Burj Khalifa building,”

This project will give a new shape to Dwarka, Gurugram, and nearby places with great connectivity, less time consumption, and fuel-saving.
