
About Garhi Harsaru Train Station
For those of us who still do not know the important industrial heritage of Gurgaon, Garhi Harsaru is a historic city and a neighboring train station along the road from Gurugram to Pataudi, which is located within the important heritage area of Pataudi, the sanctuary of Sultanpur and Farrukhanagar.
As Gurugram is one of main industry area of Haryana and growing day by day. Because of that government give linking of this area to other part of country and decided to redevelop Garhi Harsaru as the city’s main railway hub.
Garhi that emerges from the term “Garh” in Hindi represents a small fortress. Garhi Harsaru is named after the ruler of Chauhan Rajput, Harsh Dev Singh, who was one of the sons of Raja Sangat Singh Chauhan. Raja Sangat was the great-grandson of Chahir Deo, brother of the famous king Rajput Prithviraj Chauhan. Harsh Dev Singh Chauhan moved to the Gurugram area at the end of the 18th century as a zamindar descendant of the Chauhan family and took over the Garhi Harsaru area. But, it was during the British period when Garhi Harsaru became famous with the salt trade.
This new incoming project will connect five main routes Rohtak, Rewari, Ambala-Chandigarh, Mathura and Jaipur. It is expected that Government will approve this project from railway department soon.
Ministry of Railways to develop the Garhi Harsaru railway station
The decision of the Ministry of Railways to develop the Garhi Harsaru Farrukh-Nagar section is a great opportunity to increase knowledge of heritage and activities around Gurugram, Farrukhanagar and the Sultanpur shrine.
The railway authorities intend to restore the importance of the heritage of both stations and develop the 11-kilometer stretch to improve tourism in this unexplored section.
Possibly we can imagine this heritage route in the future when families with children can make weekend trips, learn about the history of railways and salt trade in India, walk the streets of the historic Farrukhnagar and its monuments and experience the Sultanpur bird sanctuary, all in a single trip.
The collective efforts of various government departments and NGOs, railroads, local agencies and INTACH, with their heritage tours, can definitely make this possible. In the long term, this route may even be linked to the already active Rewari Rail Museum with its stimulates and the Sambhar Salt Heritage Trail.
Gari Harsaru will connect both N H-8 and Dwarka Expressway; It will benefits to around Lakh people who visit to city on daily basis. It saves their lot of time. Also government try for the car shed on the new railway station. Talking about the project details, Deshwal said the exact budgets and detail of project will enclose soon in few months.
