Haryana Residences Will Be Given Individual Identification Numbers in Urban Areas

The Haryana government intends to map metropolitan areas and provide a special Code for each building to prevent land theft acquisition. The event triggers after the government used drones to map 6,286 settlements and register ‘Lal Dora’ zones.

During the British period, the phrase ‘Lal Dora,’ which means red thread, was coined to allude to the practice of putting red lines on charts to delineate farmlands from non-agricultural plots.

Furthermore, parcels known as ‘Lal Dora’ are not recognized by the government, and possession remains with the household that inhabits the land. The lack of any paperwork proving possession frequently leads to family feuds. The shift to map regions is intended to record such layouts.

According to Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal, the department has signed over 19 lakh ownership IDs since registering ‘Lal Dora’ plots in the districts. In metropolitan regions, the administration will now compile a registry of all assets in private colonies, Municipal Corporation areas, and HSVP sectors. The information will be provided to the civic body.

The relocation is a component of the state’s SVAMITVA programme. The proprietors of ‘Lal Dora’ plots will receive suitable documentation once the lands have been mapped. “This would assist us to keep a lid on land ownership issues,” said deputy commissioner Nishant Yadav.

According to authorities, the government recognizes no money for the ‘Lal Dora’ plots because there was no property. Settlements began to appear on meadows, around drains and ponds, the lack of documentation. This resulted in unintended growth. These locations were not subject to any construction codes. Residents of ‘Lal Dora’ plots will now be able to get a mortgage on their buildings thanks to the production of IDs.
